Barn Name: Blake
Year Of Birth: 13
Gender: Colt
Color: Black
Height: 17.0hh
Breed: Thoroughbred
Jockey: Ivana Babicová
Pedigree: HOF True Enough x Moondance
Pedigree Comments: True Enough is a stallion who needs no introduction, being among the first horses to be inducted into the Green Horse Fields Hall Of Fame and had a well known rivalry with Merry Bay King and Bank On Silver. His racing career was impressive and he was able to amount 23 wins in a time when even reaching Grade One was difficult. Running on both surfaces, True Enough became known as one of the all time greats of Green Horse Fields. But being renowned as a racer was not enough, and True Enough went on to prove himself in the breeding shed, siring greats such as HOF Euphoria and Radiance. He is now in the Breeding Hall of Fame. Blake is out of Moondance, a grade one dirt horse with a number of impressive wins to her name. She achieved wins in the Breeder's Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup which just goes to show the talent that she possesses. She took a lot of time to mature and come into herself, which might explain why she has the lower level of consistency. She has wins such as the Kentucky Oaks and a win in the Stable Face Off. She is sired by Dancing In The Moonlight and has a same-age half sister called Dashing In The Firelight who also made it to Grade One.
Personality: Though from a mare that wasn't confident and arrogant until her later years, Blake is a very confident and very excitable colt - he will take everything he does into his stride - he loves to show off, and be himself in the paddock and on the track, and just like his mother, he is definitely a crowd pleaser - he loves to make people happy with his bubbly and exciting personality. He's beautiful and he knows it too - he strives the attention and loves the races, and when you see him in the paddock, he will be flying round and enjoying himself, living his young life to the max. He isn't aggressive as some people may think he is by his name, his height, and his colour. He has developed an unbreakable bond with young jockey, Ivana Babicová. She understands how this colt works, and even though he is bubbly and can sometimes go over the top (which makes him hard to handle) she knows all the buttons to press with him to help him become the racehorse she's always wanted him to be. Being from two top class parents, Jacey has always wanted to see how he performs - and she hopes he can be as good as his prospect half sister filly, Imogen, whom he is also good paddock pals with. He is also good pals with his half brother of the same age, Frankie. Being a testosterone pumping colt, he is a bit of a nipper and if he gets annoyed with something you do, he will bite and launch for someone. The only person he has learnt not to bite is his handler and jockey. Not even Jacey dares go near him when something has ticked him off because she knows what he can be capable of. In the right hands, both jockey and trainer know he will become as successful as his parents.
Dirt: Great
Turf: Good
Distance: 8-12 Furlongs [Distance Ext. Applied Y13]
Leg Type: Front Runner/Pace Presser
On The Track: Blake is a front runner and he is incredibly furious when it comes to taking to the track. He will break so quickly, you'll have to have super glue on your saddle to survive his starts. He will try his hardest to keep that lead throughout most of the race, but if there is another dominant front runner, he will drop back and let them lead whilst constantly pressing the pace of that leader. He loves fast pace races even though he is a classic distance runner. He runs at his best on any type of dirt surface, but he doesn't run too well on turf. He will keep his position throughout the race because he loves the attention that he gets from it. He tries his absolute hardest in races, and never gives up in anything that he does. He is a very big boned colt with a lot of muscle - meaning he is strong, powerful, and perfect as a front runner as he has that good staying kick.
