STABLE FACE-OFF WORKOUTS
Demi and Trouble - "I Knew You Were Trouble"
The two horses stepped out onto the track in unison. One much bigger than the other. The big bay colt towered over the small grey filly as they walked along together. Ivana on board of Trouble looked down at Beth on Demi. They were both entered in the Stable Face-Off at Green Horse Fields in the same race, so this workout would be a bit of a trial run to see what would happen in the race. Demi was more experienced with five starts to her name, and Trouble was close behind with four starts to his name, though he had been in bigger name races.
Trouble broke his maiden in his second start in the Jumping Beans Maiden Sprint, and Demi finished third in the same race. His first start was at the Akita Rose Newcomers series, where he placed second behind Samhain, and finished infront of Furious By Nature. Since then, he's taken second at the Unicorn Horn, and second at the Wire Finish Cup, meaning he had one win and three seconds. In the race tomorrow, Ivana was hoping that he would manage to get to two wins, but then again, so was Beth.
Demi had five starts to her name. A win, two places, a show and a fourth. She finished second in her first start behind Trouble before going on to break her maiden in the February Maiden Dirt. Trouble was the bigger of the two, but would height have an impact on the result? Would the phrase 'the bigger the better' come into hand today? Well there was only one way to find out.
They were loaded into the gates. Filly and colt stood side by side. The bell rang and both horses leapt out at high speed, powering effortlessly down the dirt. Trouble took the lead but Demi was hot on his heels, doing what she does best and forcing him to pick up the speed. They began to round the turn and Trouble plugged on energetically with his big long stride. Demi's shorter quicker stride brought her alongside Trouble in the home stretch.
They were side by side, driving forward with eyes set on taking the win. Both jockeys were all out and as they came to the wire and Trouble dived his nose infront. Ivana felt releaved as she crossed the wire. Demi got a big pat from Beth. They were both ready for the race and nothing was going to stop them now.
